Both sides played their best football when they played into town end goal and against the light breeze  in St Tiernans Park in this second round Michael Walsh Intermediate league. 

In a game that there was no real urgency Crossmolina put three scores on the board from Fionan Duffy  before Stephen Coen opened his sides account in the tenth minute. Denis Kelly and Darren Coen followed with points each. 

Crossmolina dominated the second quarter with a string of points from Cathal Carolan, Fionan Duffy, Brian Benson, two, Conor Loftus and Fionan Duffy again. The south Mayo side scores came from Patrick Ferrick strode up from wing back kick a point from play and Darren Coen pointed a free to leave the half time score 0 – 9 to 0 -5 in favour of the Deel-siders.  

Hollymount/ Carramore were a Different side after the break they wiped out their four points deficit to take two points lead with points from Darren Coen, Conor Heneghan, two each, Kevin Ferrick and Stephen Coen one each. Brian Benson pulled one back but Enda Maloney restored his sides advantage with a point. Dean Loftus and Darren Coen swapped points.  Fionan Duffy and Darren Coen did likewise, sub J.P. Mulhern closed the scoring with a long-range point to leave the visitors deserving winner in the end

North Mayo Junior B League 
Sun, 26 Jul, Venue: St. Joseph's Park, Knockmore 0-10 Crossmolina Deel Rovers 1-12 

 

Crossmolina overcame a stiff challenge in this second round north Mayo Junior B league tie away to Knockmore on Sunday week. In a closely contested first half Crossmolina lead by a point, with points from Tommy Loftus, two, and one each from Robert Murphy, Conor Caden and Michael Gallagher.  Knockmore’s scorers were Thomas Burke and Mick Lowther both from 45’s. 

Crossmolina can thank David O’Boyles brilliant penalty save from Thomas Burke just before the break. The visitors dominated third quarter scoring 1 – 4 without reply Conor Rowland, Conor Caden points each and Lorcan Loftus goal and two points from Gerard Haran. 

Knockmore tagged on six points in the last quarter two from Cian Brogan and four from Thomas Burke in between Derek Hegarty grabbed two points and Shane McKinley one to secure the win. Crossmolina defence were well tested in the last quarter and they all played a significant part in securing the points

Crossmolina minors came out on top with a hard earned on point win over neighbours Ardmoy/McHales at Tiernans Park on Friday week 4 – 14 to  6 – 7  The hosts got off to the perfect start with a Diarmuid Coggins goal Michael Gill quickly pointed Diarmuid Walsh tacked on 1 – 3 and Luke Rowland also pointed Jack McHale  Cathal Finnerty grabbed goals Oisin Carolan Jack McHale and Barry Gaughan pointed  to leave it 2 – 5 to 2 -4 at the break. With the scores coming thick and fast Luke Rowland Diarmuid Walsh Jonathan Murtagh Niall Coggins Cillian Fergus all contributed to the score board for the hosts Ardmoy/McHales  John McDonnell Jack McHale grabbed goals to edge their side in front entering the last five minutes Diarmuid Walsh tied the score and Luke Rowland late free secured a deserved  win on a damp evening

Crossmolina and Bonniconlon played out an exciting high scoring draw in this Michael Walsh Intermediate League in Bonniconlon on Saturday week. Crossmolina with the aid the breeze Chris Myles opening the scoring which Wesley Loftus cancelled out Fionan Duffy Dean Loftus and Duffy again pointed Wesley Loftus and Killian Upton raised white flags before Tom Cafferty fired over a point Ronan Neary waltzed around a couple of defences to hammer the ball to the net after 13 minutes. Crossmolina  replied immediately after flowing movement John Garrett finished to the net another Ronan Neary goal and a point in between Fionan Duffy pointed twice in quick succession on the stroke of half time Conor Igoe pointed to tie the score 2 – 5 to 1 – 8 Crossmolina dominated after the break with three points from Fionan Duffy and one from Dean Loftus Bonniconlon came back with two points from Ronan Neary and one each from Sean Neary and Killian Upton to tie the score Fionan Duffy again tacked on three points in as many minuets Sean Neary Ronan Neary John Rafter pointed. Tom Cafferty and Sean Kelly seemed to have  secured  the points for the visitors a couple of minutes into injury time Bonniconlon came back with two points From Ronan Neary and Conor Igoe as the clock enterd the 67th minuet  to leave the final score Crossmolina 1 – 17 Bonnicomlon  2 – 14 after an entertaining contest in the first competitive game since march

Crossmolina Junior team had a comfortable win over Bonniconlon in the North Mayo Junior B League at Tiernans Park on Sunday week. Leading by 0 – 8 to 0 – 2 at the break points coming from Conor Caden Gerard Haran Adam Langan Conor Rowland and Colm Hegarty The visitors scores coming from Richard McKenzie and Cormac O’Malley. Two goals just after the break from Tommy Loftus and Adam Langan killed the game off as a contest further goals from David O’Boyle and Kevin Keane at the three quarter hour mark put the game out of the visitors reach  Bonniconlon’s points were scored by   Richard McKenzie and Cormac O’Malley final score  4  - 10 to 0 – 4  in favour of the Deel-Siders.

As we return to St Tiernans Park for training and games in the coming weeks, please be mindful of all Government and GAA guidance’s on personal protocols.  

We have invested in signage and sanitisers but we will be depending on everyone taking personal responsibility. 

If you have any concerns, there is a Covid supervisor appointed to each team, or you can ask any Club officer.

Covid – 19 Club Up date. 

 We wish all our members and supporters well during this unnerving time. Our facilities are closed in line with Government and GAA guidelines. We will update you in line with best advice. Feel free to contact any of the Club officers if you feel we can be of any help. We are liaising with local businesses to help with deliveries and would ask everyone to keep a close eye on those in our community that may need assistance at this time 

 

CO-VID 19 DELIVERY SERVICE. 

As all festivals and events are cancelled for the foreseeable future, the Crossmolina Festival group are putting their idle time to good use and are now available for deliveries to those people in the Parish that are staying at home during the virus pandemic.  If you would like any shopping, prescriptions etc delivered to your home, simply contact any of the local retailers, butchers or pharmacies, place your order, request delivery and the retailers will organise for members of the festival group to deliver your order that evening with urgent orders delivered during the day.  The festival would like to thank all those that have volunteered, now is the time to stay at home as much as possible and when normality returns, Crossmolina festival will be ready to host the events we will all need to celebrate.
