U11 Beann Eadair Howth Dublin U11 Tournament 2017

The long-awaited day had come, Saturday 18th of November we left St Tiernan’s pitch at 7am for the long journey ahead to Beann Eadair GAA Club, Howth. Dublin. When we were invited it was an opportunity we could not let pass as it would be a great experience for our boys, and that it was.
With a bus full of eager young lads and mentors not knowing what lay ahead as in the football skill of the other club we were playing it was very daunting.
We arrived in Howth at around 10:45am but due to limited space in the car park of the pitch we had to park the bus in a nearby housing estate. All the gear was removed from the bus and we headed off. It was a badly needed stretch after the long journey up.

There was a lot of mixed feelings as we did not know what to expect. We had never seen or played against any of these teams that were in either of our Groups except for Beann Eadair.
When we got closer to the pitch it was great to see some familiar faces from home standing there waiting for us it gave everyone a little bit of a relief, that we were not on our own. All teams were given a section in the Astro pitch where we drop the bags and did a quick warm up.
First thing on the agenda was a parade lead by a pipe player with all the teams who were participating in the tournament following.

After that all the boys got a bag of goodies from Beann Eadair. Then we made our way to the club house where there was some delicious hot food waiting for us. It was badly needed at that stage. Once the food was over we presented Beann Eadair with a plaque on behalf of the club for the kind invitation to their tournament. Beann Eadair also presented to us a scroll with all the club crests that participated in the tournament.

Then it was time to face the long journey home again.
A great day was had by all and what an experience for all our young lads.
We would like to thank everyone in the Beann Eadair GAA Club for giving us the opportunity to participate in their tournament for making us feel so welcome and looking after us with food throughout the day.
To all our own supports who took the long journey to Dublin to cheer on our boys. To all the parents who travelled with us on the bus we would like to thank you all for you help. To Colm, Peader, Barry, & James thank you for a great year.

But most of all a big “Thank You” to every one of those players who have given us such great entertainment and put in all the hard work throughout the year. You are all a credit to your parents, Deelrovers Club and Crossmolina Town. We are very proud of every single one of you.
Over all I think the day went very well and everyone enjoyed it.
Looking forward to next year already.

No winner, no match three so six punters were drawn, Fiona Hopkins, Michael Sheridan, Anna Herbert, Bryan McEntee, Eithne & Colin Cosgrove, Colm & Julie Reilly, and each win €25. The draw took place in Stick’s Bar.
