Mayo Senior League 2016 - Group 1A
Aghamore 3 – 6 Crossmolina 1 – 8
Aghamore collected two vital points in their battle for survival in Division 1 A of the County League at St. Tiernans Park on Sunday last. Alan Freeman opened his sides account after two minutes, three minutes later Ross Egan was on the end of a flowing move to give Sean Og Tighe a simple tap into to net. Fionan Duffy pointed a free after eight minutes. Fergal Boland tacked on two more points, before Fionan Duffy pointed his second free on 18 minutes. Crossmolina were very wastefull shooting 7 wides in the first half, and were made suffer another hammer blow when Sean Og Tighe bagged his second goal in the 25th minute. Minutes later Crossmolina were rewarded for their efforts when Fionan Duffy deftly lobbed the advancing Paddy Finnegan and just before the break Finnegan denied Peadar Gardiner a goal coming off his line save to leave the half time score 2 – 3 to 1 – 2. After the break Fergal Boland raced through the Deel-Siders defence to score a scorcher of goal. Kenny Feeney and Sean Kelly who came on as a sub exchanged points. A Fionan Duffy point started a revival this followed another from Sean Kelly, the last ten minuets played out in a welter of excitement when Sean Kelly pointed two frees to reduce the lead to three points, minutes later Fergal Boland pointed twice in the closing minutes. Sean Kelly added another points but the visitors greater strength all round and the excellent work rate all over the field making light work on a heavy pitch after a weekend of heavy rain and few showers during the game.
