The opening minutes of this County League Division 1 A tie At Tiernans Park was dominated by the visitors with three points in the opening five minutes from Conor Finnerty Danny Geraghty and Alan Dillon. Conor Loftus and Peadar Gardiner replied with points each before Jason Gibbons struck one of his trade mark points in the 10th minute Fionan Duffy pointed a 40m Free which was quickly cancelled out by a like score from Stephen O’Malley Fionan Duffy and Cillian O’Connor traded points it was nip and tuck for the last ten minutes of the half with Stephen O’Malley and Fionan Duffy exchanging points and Conor Loftus and Stephen O’Malley grabbed points each before the break to leave the half time score 0 – 8 to 0 – 6 in favour of the West Mayo men. The home side had the assistance of the fresh breeze in the opening 30 minutes and lead at the break by 0 – 7 to 0 – 1 with Adrian Kelly the scorer in chief for the Stephenites Thomas McNulty grabbed his sides only first half score. Crossmolina got their County Senior League Campaign off to a winning start in Ballindine against Davitts. It was a workman like performance with hard graft a good level of fitness. The opening 30 minutes Crossmolina were well on top Fionan Duffy after four minutes and Peadar Gardiner after nine laid the foundations. Evan Ronane kicked a neat point. Brian Benson finished a great move to the net in the 15th minute, which involved half a dozen players after a quick kick out. Evan Ronane from play and Liam Kearns free reduced the lead in between Fionan Duffy landed a great point from the sideline, further points from Thomas Cafferty, David Howley kept the scoreboard ticking over for the visitors. Liam Kearns and Fionan Duffy exchanged points before the break to leave Crossmolina 1 – 6 to Davitts 0 – 4. Tthanks to the dominance of Martin McAndrew and Jordan Flynn at midfield this lead was extended straight after the break with copy book move a the first half goal when Mickie Loftus set up Dean Loftus to finish to the net. Liam Kearns and Mickie Loftus exchanged point in the 12th minute Davitts hit a purple patch inspired by Conor Boyle which was followed by points from Liam Kearns and Ronan McNamara who had moved to midfield. Fionan Duffy and Conor Loftus tacked on points. Davitts were denied a goal when Shane Keane pulled off a great save from Evan Ronane in the 22 minute. Liam Kearns and Brian Benson in the 55 minute Cathal Hennelly and Liam Kearns again pointed.
