This second round Mayo Senior Championship tie at James Stephens Park on Saturday evening was dominated by the hosts in the opening 22 minutes, with Ciaran Tracey their main threat, with a goal after thirty seconds and 1 – 4 in total in the opening thirty minutes. The game was into the 22nd minute when Stephen Duffy raced up the field to kick his sides opening score. Cathal Carolan and Fionan Duffy added points to leave the half time score 1 – 7 to 0 – 3. Mike Gallagher came of the bench to kick a point. Crossmolina had their best spell at the three quarters mark with Brian Benson denied a certain goal by the excellent David Clarke. Another defence splitting Stephen Duffy run resulted in Fionan Duffy on the end to drive the ball past Clarke. Hugh Cafferty and Cathal Carolan tacked on further points but it was as good as it got for the Deel-Siders and Kevin Newell the former Ardnaree Sarsfiels player grabbed his sides second goal to leave Ballina safely through to the last eight. Crossmolina were in control of this round 2 County Junior Championship tie at a sunny Tiernans Park on Sunday last with Thomas McNulty and Joe Keane directing operation up front scoring three points each in the opening 30 minutes. Liam Donohoe grabbed the vital goal in the 23rd minute and Kevin Keane added a point. James Kilroy, Noel Mulligan were Charlestown point scorers to leave the half time score 1 – 7 to 0 – 2. Thomas McNulty continued his good scoring record with a further 1 – 3, Darragh McCormack, Liam Donohoe, Fergoil Gill and Conor Rowland tacked on points. For the visitors Kiefer Craig, James Kilroy, pointed. Ray Lenehan goaled after pass form Mark Caffrey in the 26th minute and corner back Brian Sheeran rowed in with two points in last few minutes to leave the Deel-Siders comfortable winners.

North N.S Football Crossmolina Parish National Schools advanced to the North Mayo NS semi final after cracking contest in Bangor on Tuesday last. Kiltane raced into an early lead with a brace of goals from Josh Carey. Festival News. Tickets for Sharon Shannon & Her Band in concert with special guest, Don Stiffe, in Hiney's Upper Deck on Thurs. July 20th are now available at Londis, Centra, Gala, Ballina Manor Hotel and online at ticketmaster.ie. The festival launch will take place on the weekend of July 1st & 2nd and this year's programme of events looks to be one of the best to date with country, comedy, family fun and lots of children's activities.
