Crossmolina grabbed two precious points in Division 1A of the County League at St Josephs Park Knockmore on Sunday last. Playing a more direct game taking the game to the hosts two points from Brian Benson inside three minutes was the perfect start. Darren McHale quickly cancelled those out Kieran Langan and Darren McHale added points before Fionan Duffy had like scores for the visitors. Peter Naughton pointed a free to give his side a one point advantage after 15 minutes. Brian Benson waltzed past a couple of defenders to drill the ball past Aidan Kilcoyne in the seventeenth minute after receiving the pass from Jordan Flynn. Fionan Duffy added a point in the 25th minute and just before the break Martin McAndrew found Kevin Mulhern with a 40m pass which he fielded and stuck the ball in the net to leave the half tine score 2 – 5 to 0 – 5, after playing with the aid of a stiff breeze. Keith Ruttledge tacked on a point on the resumption and Peter Naughton pointed in the thirty fourth and fortieth minutes, which Fionan Duffy replied with two points for The DeeL-Siders. Kieran Langan grabbed a life line for his side when drove the ball past a helpless Shane Keane after a goal mouth scramble in the 47th minute, this goal was quickly cancelled out when Martin McAndrew found Derek Hegarty in side the defence exchanged passes with Dean Loftus before fisting to the net. Fionan duffy and Peter Naughton exchanged point before the final whistle.

In a closely contested low scoring first half Mitchels Ger McDonagh opened the scoring with a point after three minuets not to out done Crossmolina centre half back Hugh Cafferty tied the score minuet later Fionan Duffy pointed for the host in the 15th minuet with the Mitchels finishing the half with four points from James Durkan two one a free Gavin Durcan and Shane Hopkins from open play to leave the half time score 0 – 5 to 0 – 2 in favour of the Mitchels. U11 blitz inSean Duffy Park, Ardnaree, On Saturday the 24th of June our U11’s boys participated in a blitz along with Ardnaree, Beann Eadair CLG (Howth, Dublin) and Bonniconlon. It was such an enjoyable morning with plenty of football for everyone. Thanks to Ardnaree for inviting us to such a well-run event and for their kind hospitality.

Festival News Thank you to everyone that attended the Festival Launch, the brochure for Festival 2017 is now available in local outlets and online at the new festival website, www.crossmolinafestival.ie. Congratulations to Amy Traynor who was chosen as Nephin Rose 2017, we wish Amy the best of luck and hope she enjoys her year representing Crossmolina. This year's festival has a varied mix of events, the five fun filled days from July 19th - 23rd will have, comedy, cycling, ladies night, dancing, puppetry, magic, knockout challenge, art, music, water activities and much more. The final heat of the Singing Pubs takes place in Cawley's Of Rakestreet on next Saturday night, July 8th.
