Crossmolina National School won their section of North Mayo Mini Sevens football after great final with Killala at a sunny St Tiernans Park after all the harsh weather of late. The sea siders lead at the break 1 – 3 to 1 – 2 James McLoughlin grabbing Killala’s goal and Josh Moyles raised the green flag Crossmolina. Kobe McDonald and Oisin Deane pointed for the home side with Sean Walsh with two and Michael Nealon one the points scorers for Killala. Two Kobe McDonald points in quick succession after gave his side the lead and Oisin Deans 1 – 2 helped Crossmolina into a six points advantage Sean Walsh and Ray Murphy reduced lead with points each which was wiped out by a Luke Williams Goal after great approach work both goalkeepers made a couple of great saves over the course of the game. Crossmolina had wins over Rathbane, Laherdane and Ballycastle in the Round Robin Section Crossmolina Team and scorers Patrick O’Malley Sean óg McGuinness Oisin Deane 1 – 3 Ronan Sweeney Josh Moyles 1 -0 Dylan Flynn Matthew Williams 1 – 0 Kobe McDonald 0 – 3 Nathan Lynch Aaron Coggins Crossmolina second team were unlucky to be edged out by a point in their opening game against Carn Garranard on a 3 – 2 to 3 – 1 score line the team and scorers were John Sharkey Luke Williams Ronan Walsh Tom Gough 1 – 1 James O’Boyle 1 – 0 Ethan Reilly James Loftus Esmond Maughan Ronan Connor Joey Keane 1 – 0. In their second game a much stronger Ballycastle side ran out comfortable winners final score 2 – 7 to 0 – 3 with Joey Keane James O’Boyle and Esmond Maughan the point scorers for the Deel-Siders

John is Honoured by the President Congratulation to John Harkin the Donegal native who has been living in Mayo for the last 40 years who was honoured by the Uachtaran Chumann Luthchleas Gael Aogan O Fearghail at the Annual gala awards ceremony in Croke Park on Friday week for his contribution in organising Comortas Peile na Gealtachta and his life time contribution to the GAA. John who taught in Gortnor Abbey Convent until his retirement was a very active member of Crossmolina Deel-Rovers club was Oifigeach Na Gaeilge officer and PRO from 1980 to 1990 editing the Clubs Year book during that time one of the first in the County. A member of the mayo refereeing panel for many years covering county finals at all levels and North Divisional finals. Wishing John all the best in the Future from his many friends in Crossmolina.

Would you like to be a referee? Mayo G.A.A are on the lookout for new referees for the new season. For anyone thinking of taking up refereeing there is a Foundation Level Football Referees Course happening on the following three dates:
- Wednesday 21st February - Wednesday 28th February - Wednesday 7th March
New referees are required to attend all three sessions. Each session starts at 8pm & will be in Elverys MacHale Park.
