CROSSMOLINA 1-12 WESTPORT 0-4

IF EVER a game failed to live up to its billing this was it. Crossmolina, unsure of their place in the quarter-finals even at the full-time whistle of their third and final group game, were so superior over Westport on Sunday afternoon, you wondered how the latter could even have been talked up so much in the build up.

Solid outings against Ballina Stephenites, Tourmakeady and, even in defeat, against Ballaghaderreen, were nothing other than a false indicator, as the Coveys looked aimless and clueless for the majority of the hour. They were pointless too, from play at least, between the 6th and 56th minutes, as their opponents from Deelside dominated from practically start to finish.
