U21s Win

Crossmolina U21 team created a big shock in the County Championship with a 0 - 16 to 1 - 10 win over Castlebar at St Tiernans Psrk on Tuesday evening last. The winners lead at half time 0 - 6 to 0 - 4 with points from Gerard Haran Hugh Cafferty and two each from Conor Loftus and Fionan Duffy. Castlebar scorers were James Durcan two points Rory Byrne and David Stenson one each. Crossmolina were dealt a sever blow just after the break when the visitors were awarded a penalty when Danny Kirby was upended in the big Square and took  the  penalty himself and gave Shane Keane no chance of saving it, Crossmolina responded with a Fionan Duffy point to level and went on to dominate the next twenty minuets with a string of points from Gerard Haran Conor Loftus Martin McAndrew and Fionan Duffy to go six points up. Castlebar made a late rally with points from James Durcan Shane Dolan Ryan Coleman Patrick Durcan and Danny Kirby. This was a great display by a very young team who can look forward to bright futures in the maron and white
