Seamus Roche from play and Ciaran McDonald and Brian Benson took points each in the first three minutes. Kevin Mulhern kicked over from play from 40m. Josh Ronayne tied the score from a free in the 11th minute midway through the half. Colm Roche put his side in front in a game of both sides playing a defensive game. Just after the break Brian Benson pointed from a 14m free. From the kick out Davitts broke down field and Michael Conroy pointed from play. Peadar Gardiner gave his side the lead again in 5th minute and Michael won a free which he pointed himself. Crossmolina began to get a firm grip around the middle of the park and this reflected on the score board first Brian Benson kicked a point from play in the 12th minute, three minutes later Fionan Duffy picked up a knock down from Paul Duffy to point. Ciaran McDonald kicked three points two frees and one from play in the 25th minute to give his side a five points advantage. U12 Div 2 League Davitt College Wed 14th May 7pm,
Castlebar 2-01
McHale Rovers 3-04
The U12 girls started their 2014 league campaign with an away trip to Castlebar, This league is based on a format of 4 qtrs with all girls playing at least one qtr. Captain Ava McLoughlin lost the toss at the start of the game but left nothing to chance for the remainder of the evening putting in a girl of the match performance at full back. A point each from Annie Gough and Niamh Maughan and two goals ( one a âBernard Broganâ ) scored by Caoimhe Walshe left the score 2-02 to 2-00 in favour of McHale Rovers. With the wind and the hill in the second half they restricted Castlebar to just one point and put plenty of pressure on any shot which resulted in numerous missed chances for Castlebar. At the other end Emily Murray was in fine form adding 1-01 and the scoring was completed with a point by the impressive Caoimhe Walshe.
