Junior Football Championship - Group 4 Fri, 30 May, Venue: Crossmolina , (Round: Round 1), Crossmolina Deel Rovers 1-12 Ardagh 0-11 Crossmolina Junior team got their Championship Campaign off to a winning start against neighbours Ardagh in St Tiernans Park. After a first half that Ardagh commanded for ten minutes with points from Brendan Carey and Kevin Moran. A fisted goal from John Mulhern brought his side within one point after 12 minutes. Enda OâHora and Brendan Carr swapped points with Shane McKinley and Gerard Haran, before Martin Connor brought his side within one point of Ardagh at the break 0 â 8 to 1 â 4. Crossmolina started the second half with a string of points from Kevin McHugh, Shane McKinley, John Mulhern and Gerard Haran. Barry Molloy and Kevin Moran kept Ardagh in the contest with points at the other end. Gerard Haran, Colm McDonnell and Keith Hopkins kept their side in front with points each in the last eight minutes. Neither side added to the score board and the Deel-Siders ran out comfortable winners in the end by four points 1 â 12 to 0 â 11. Crossmolina Deel Rovers Lahardane The games were played on a 7 a-side basis, there were 5 teams in total, 3 Crossmolina and 2 Lahardane. A great evenings football was enjoyed by the children and the many parents and family who turned out on the fine evening. Ryan Lynch Cup Belmullet retained the Ryan Lynch memorial Trophy after exciting game at St Tiernans Park on Friday 30/5/14. In a very well contested game there was very little in it at any time. Dean Loftus, Tommy Walsh and Gary Hopkins opened the scoring with points each for the home side. Cathal Barrett replyed with two points from frees and further points from Gary Hopkins and Nigel Caden. Belmulletâs Eoin Healy tied the score after 12 minuets with a goal after a great build up. Dean Loftus gave his side the lead again with a goal after taking a pass from Tommy Walsh. Eoin Healy and Niall Cawley pointed for Belmullet before Jordan Flynn gave his side the lead at the break with a point 1 â 6 to 1 â 5. Richard Hanley tied the score in the 31st minute and Cathal Barrett kicked a couple of frees to push Belmullet ahead. Nigel Caden and Dean Loftus pointed for Crossmolina, before Niall Cawley and Jordan Flynn exchanged points. Jonathan Shevlin struck for a goal and Cathal Barrett extended Belmullets lead to five points. Niall Maughan scored a consolation goal to leave the final score 2 â 11 to 2 â 9 for a deserved win in the seventh playing of this tournament to honour a very promising player.
