Garrymore came to Crossmolina after a good championship win the previous Sunday and with Crossmolina having suffered a very heavy defeat the question was, could the hosts redeem themselves?. And they did, if not the hard way, Brian Benson and Anthony Cunningham traded points in the opening two minutes. Brian Walsh and Jimmy Killeen tacked on two points in between Ciaran McDonald pointed a free and he tied the score on 15 minutes from play. The crucial score of the half came in the eighteenth minute when Brian Benson was pulled down in the square. Brian took the spot kick and Trevor Nally saved but Brian drove the rebound to the net. The winners lead at half time by 5â06 to 0â02, points from Daniel Howley and Christopher Walsh. Two goals from Christopher Walsh and one each from Robert Murphy and Edward Gough gave the Deel-Siders a glimmer of hope, but man of the match Ben Stowe who scored a total of 5 â 4 slotted home two more goals to see the game off as contest.
